Mums using Google!

This made me laugh, a lot!
At a recent online recruitment advertising event I was talking about Search Engine Employer Brand awareness. I mentioned how, if listed correctly, an employer can dramatically improve his or her direct recruitment strategy and produce high volumes of quality jobseekers applications.
When I finished it was Q&A time, however this time instead of asking questions straight off, the HR Director of UK Plc stood up and said that since last weekend he now understood why it was so important to list well in search engines. He said that when speaking to his Mum the previous week he had asked how she was getting on with the email account he had set up for her and she replied,
“Well to tell you the truth son I got a bit lost, but it was ok, I just used Google to find Yahoo.”
To me this was the icing on the cake and again emphasised just how critical search engine awareness is to corporate success and brand perception. Being well positioned in natural search gives the impression of authority. Young or old we all trust natural results produced by search engines. That’s why it’s just so important as an employer that we make sure we list well in all corporate critical areas.
Yes corporate critical areas are your online shoppers and mum’s looking for email accounts, but it also includes hiring the very best people to support your business and clients. Search engines are by far the biggest and best medium to attract jobseekers, and this attraction continues to grow like crazy.
Quite simply and as this Mum showed, if you list your company’s HR and job content well in search engines you will secure your brand, attract the best jobseekers on the market today and satisfy corporate recruitment goals.
