Posted by Joanne Brent on 28 Jul 2009 | Tagged as: Direct recruitment strategies, Employer Branding, Facts & Figures, HR Strategy

We all know how bad the recruitment situation is around the world for most industries badly affected by economic situations. A recent online job site poll conducted by Bayt.com showed the only recruitment sector showing a markable increase this year was online job advertising. Around 16 per cent of the Middle East’s employers said they are hiring more staff than last year and most are advertising primarily online.

Skillect.com advises on the top 10 mistakes on CVs & Resumes

Posted by Ben Muir on 20 Jul 2009 | Tagged as: Direct recruitment strategies, Employer Branding, HR Strategy, Social Media

I read between 50 to 100 CVs per day in my job, so I thought I would offer some advice to those job seekers out there who are having trouble getting interviews for the roles to which they feel they are suited. I am not astounded any more because I see the same mistakes repeated daily, but when I first started in the recruitment business I was flabbergasted that one of the most important documents in a person’s life was afforded such little care and attention. The CVs or resumes that I receive on a daily basis are riddled with spelling mistakes, poor grammar or are incomprehensible. Here are a few of my favourite spelling mistakes.

Online job advertising - Building a campaign!

Posted by Joanne Brent on 14 Jul 2009 | Tagged as: Direct recruitment strategies, Employer Branding, HR Strategy

The important thing to remember about the Internet is that it is an open medium where people can, and do, discuss things openly. If you embrace the opportunities it brings you then your recruitment campaign can take on a life of its own, reaching people from all walks of life who would have otherwise not discovered your advert. This is even more so applicable as an employer, employer branding and marketing is the number one key to a successful recruitment campaign. This is why it’s equally important to trust only industry leaders when assigning your budget to online HR-SEO projects!

With the advent of the Internet the world has advanced and improved in many ways, and the recruitment world is no different. You can now reach a wider range of candidates than ever and in increasingly inventive ways. Personal Branding on Social Networking Sites.

Posted by Joanne Brent on 11 May 2009 | Tagged as: Direct recruitment strategies, Employer Branding, HR Strategy, Social Media

Some businesses use social networking sites to check out potential employees. Jobseekers beware - employers are increasingly checking out networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to get a feel for prospective employees. Fiona Hewitt, director of Brand YOU, says while some are just “checking out drunken photos on Facebook”, savvy employers are using these sites as a recruitment tool to assess people’s public persona and reputation.

And whether you’re job hunting or preparing for a promotion, there’s never been a better time to define your personal brand and boost your professional visibility. In this “incredibly competitive” market in which there’s plenty of uncertainty, Hewitt says you need to stand out through “working out who you are and showcasing your talents to others”.
